Greetings from the Editor -
In recent months,
we have received a
tremendous amount
of feedback from our
readers. We encourage
participation and
want to hear your thoughts regarding
content and cover stories.
Reader ideas and suggestions will
continue to be the cornerstone of how
we develop content and become
involved with activities in the area.
Please continue to share. We are
open to learning from one another.
Keep in mind that we print and share
diverse viewpoints, in an effort to
inform older adults.
There are times in which we include
disturbing ‘sides’ of a story, situation
or policy - this is in order for the
public to be ‘informed’. Your personal
position on topics are respected as we
respect the freedom we share as
Americans.
Personal attacks are not tolerated
and we discourage the use of threats or
violence. It is important to have a
voice and we will work together in
order to promote and defend older
adults, especially those that are not
able to fend for themselves.
Our position is ‘senior advocacy’, we
may not always agree, yet we will
always respect each others’ rights to
peacefully disagree. .

Doug Knott, 67 years young, is bravely taking his FIRST LADIES
creative talents into his first one man show – “Last of
the Knotts”. He is comfortable performing as a poet in
the Los Angeles area and has done so since the 80s.
However, this is a portrayal of his life story, which is
touted as semi-autobiographical and a comi-tragedy.
Doug is quick to state it is not a comedy, yet it will
make you laugh and cry for him.
Knott’s father was a South Florida patriarch and
judge. He wanted his only son to give him a grandson.
However, Doug became a LA hipster-poet and felt he
had taken more than enough childhood abuse from his
father, which he refers to as a ‘redneck Judge’. For years
he exclaimed, “I am the last of the
Knotts”, rebelling against his father. However, as you might imagine life takes a turn and Doug must
decide ‘to be or Knott to be… a father’.

I moved to Beverly Hills a few months
ago. I am 55 and was surprised to learn
that at my age, I am qualified for some
senior benefits here.
I guess if AARP is for 50 and over, well, I
am heading in the senior direction. I called
my sister in New Hampshire and told her
that I am now officially old. We both
laughed. Growing up, I did not look
forward to something like that. Now that
the time is here, I am proud of it. I earned
it. I don’t feel old. In fact, I feel great.
Life does get better with age. I have
been reading Not Born Yesterday! every
month since I got here.
Thank you for a wonderful paper. It is
inspiring and has so much. While I was
‘not born yesterday’, I do look forward to
the years ahead. Your paper will be a part
of that.
